Job summary

This position is for an early-career scientist focused on the intersection of fungal biology, microscopy, and food innovation within a highly interdisciplinary research environment. The role involves developing expertise in food science, fungal biology, and advanced microscopy techniques, contributing to a project aimed at designing microbial foods that meet consumer and sustainability targets.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in engineering or equivalent
  • Hands-on experience with mycology and fungal systems
  • Practical experience in food science, particularly texture analysis (preferred)
  • Familiarity with genomic and/or transcriptomic data analysis
  • Experience with confocal microscopy and advanced imaging techniques
  • Strong data analysis, visualization, and presentation skills

Responsibilities

  • Investigate ecological and genetic factors influencing fungal morphology and texture
  • Contribute to the design of next-generation foods by linking genotype, growth conditions, and texture outcomes
  • Collaborate with multiple research groups and contribute to cross-disciplinary projects
  • Maintain thorough documentation of research activities
