Principal Researcher (Quantum, Lyngby)

Job summary

This role involves taking technical ownership of a significant subsystem or capability within a quantum hardware program, guiding technology from scientific concepts to experimental validation and system realization. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to define system strategy, make architectural decisions, and mentor scientists and engineers.

Qualifications

• Doctorate, Master’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in leading or building complex quantum architecture.
• Experience in designing experiments and interpreting evidence for critical decisions.
• Strong quantitative systems reasoning skills across physical mechanisms and architecture.

Responsibilities

• Develop the technical strategy, architecture, and design of a major subsystem within a quantum hardware program, assessing trade-offs and risks.
• Design and execute critical experiments to reduce uncertainty and ensure high standards for data quality and validation.
• Translate scientific insights into practical system requirements and execution plans.
• Collaborate with theory, engineering, and software teams to integrate models and implementations.
• Work with external suppliers and research collaborators to advance program goals.
• Mentor team members and communicate complex technical topics to stakeholders.

Skills

• Proficiency in leveraging AI tools for innovation and efficiency in research and task automation.
• Ability to evaluate AI-assisted solutions with measurable outcomes and safeguards.

Education
