Postdoctoral Researcher or Research Assistant (Robotics, Odense)

Job summary

Positions are available for a postdoctoral researcher or research assistant focusing on the modeling and control of soft/continuum robotics with applications in surgery. The roles are based at the main campus of the University of Southern Denmark in Odense and require on-site work.

Qualifications

• For postdoc: PhD in robotics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• For research assistant: Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• Strong knowledge in embedded systems programming, Robot Operating System (ROS), medical imaging analysis, robot control, artificial intelligence, and mechanical prototyping.
• Previous publications in robotics journals or conferences are advantageous.
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Integrate various sensing technologies with continuum robotic systems and develop related algorithms.
• Conduct 3D environment reconstruction using vision techniques.
• Implement visual servoing and develop AI-based control methods for continuum robots.
• Validate and experimentally evaluate control algorithms on robotic platforms.

Skills

• Proficiency in embedded systems programming and ROS.
• Experience in medical imaging and robot control.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Education

• PhD for postdoc position; Master’s degree for research assistant position in relevant fields.

Tools
