Job summary

This position offers a 2-year postdoctoral opportunity focused on sustainable polymer composites, vibro-acoustics, and digital material design, contributing to the development of recyclable bio-reinforced polypropylene composites aimed at enhancing acoustic performance in industrial applications.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Acoustics, Computational Mechanics, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with polymer composites and fibre-reinforced plastics.
  • Expertise in experimental testing methods including mechanical, microscopy, and DMA.
  • Strong publication record with at least 4 first-author ISI-indexed papers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, manufacture, and characterize innovative composite materials.
  • Conduct vibro-acoustic testing and perform damping analysis using DMA.
  • Develop finite element and boundary element models to optimize acoustic performance.
  • Translate laboratory findings into industrial-scale injection-moulded prototypes.
  • Lead project deliverables, publish research findings, and co-supervise undergraduate and master's students.

Skills

  • Proficiency in simulation software such as COMSOL, ABAQUS, ANSYS, or Moldflow.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary and international teams.
  • Desirable knowledge in machine learning, design of experiments, or multi-parameter optimization.

Tools

  • Access to advanced acoustic and materials testing facilities.
  • Collaboration with leading researchers and engineers in the field.

Education

  • A completed PhD in a relevant discipline is required.
