Job summary

This position focuses on developing high-throughput genome editing tools for automated gene deletions within a collaborative research initiative aimed at advancing biomanufacturing technologies. The role involves designing and optimizing CRISPR-based workflows and building genome editing libraries to support microbial engineering efforts.

Qualifications

  • PhD in microbiology, synthetic biology, biotechnology, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with CRISPR/Cas genome editing in non-model microbial systems
  • Familiarity with multiple DNA delivery methods, such as electroporation or conjugation
  • Interest or experience in laboratory automation and high-throughput experimental design
  • Strong analytical skills, with programming experience in data analysis and workflow scripting (e.g., Python) preferred
  • Excellent communication skills in English and a collaborative mindset

Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize CRISPR/Cas genome editing strategies for systematic gene deletions across prokaryotic hosts
  • Co-develop automated, high-throughput protocols for genome-wide library construction
  • Build and curate high-throughput collections of deletion mutants for functional characterization
  • Analyze mutant libraries using phenotypic and omics-based approaches
  • Contribute to the design of automation-compatible workflows using liquid-handling robotics
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and disseminate results through publications and presentations

Education

  • A PhD degree (or equivalent) is required.

Tools

  • Experience with liquid-handling robotics and relevant laboratory automation tools.
