Job summary

This position focuses on advanced fungal microscopy within a research program aimed at designing microbial foods. The role involves developing an imaging platform to visualize fungal growth in solid substrates and understanding the spatial organization of fungal colonies.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • Hands-on experience in confocal microscopy, ideally with fungi.
  • Strong interest in fungal biology and ecology.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the scientific progress of the project, including planning and executing experiments.
  • Build a fungal imaging workflow for solid-state fermentation samples.
  • Conduct genetic engineering of filamentous fungi.
  • Visualize results and communicate findings to diverse audiences.
  • Publish research findings in high-impact journals and present at conferences.
  • Collaborate with researchers across disciplines.

Skills

  • Experience with fungal genetic engineering (preferred).
  • Experience in cryosectioning or related methods (preferred).
  • Experience in automated image analysis (preferred).
  • Interest in public engagement and science communication (preferred).

Education

  • A PhD degree (or equivalent) is required.

Tools
