About the role

Job summary

The Center for Nanophotonics at a leading technical university is seeking a motivated PhD student to engage in research on semiconductor nanocavities that enable extreme light localization. This role involves contributing to the development of nanophotonic devices through the epitaxy and nanofabrication of III-V semiconductor emitters.

Qualifications

  • Relevant master’s degree in physics or engineering.
  • Strong academic record with interests in nanofabrication, epitaxy, laser physics, integrated photonics, condensed matter physics, and nanoscopy.
  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent academic level.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on semiconductor growth in narrow three-dimensional dielectric templates.
  • Study low-dimensional gain materials and tailored doping strategies for nanophotonic devices.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of researchers in an interdisciplinary environment.

Skills

  • Strong background in physics or engineering.
  • Experience or interest in nanofabrication and semiconductor technology.

Education

  • Candidates must hold a relevant master’s degree.
