About the role

Job summary

This position involves research and development of open-source electronic design automation (EDA) tools aimed at enhancing chip design processes. The project focuses on creating hardware generators and a functional verification framework to improve interoperability and productivity in chip design.

Qualifications

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a similar field.
  • Experience in hardware design using a hardware description language such as Chisel, VHDL, or Verilog; familiarity with Chisel is advantageous.
  • Understanding of the chip design and verification process.
  • Basic programming skills in Java or Scala.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on EDA tooling.
  • Design hardware generators.
  • Develop verification methods, including functional verification in Scala/Java.
  • Integrate developments into the Chips JU project ODE4EV-PIV.
  • Co-supervise students and optionally contribute to teaching.

Skills

  • Proficiency in hardware description languages (Chisel, VHDL, Verilog).
  • Knowledge of chip design and verification processes.
  • Programming skills in Java/Scala.

Education

  • A master's degree in a relevant field is required.

Tools

  • Open-source EDA tools such as OpenROAD and LibreLane.
