PhD Researcher in Digital Manufacturing Systems

Job summary

This PhD position focuses on developing a digital platform for data-centric micromanufacturing, enhancing the integration of heterogeneous production data to support AI-driven decision-making in manufacturing processes. The role involves collaboration with industrial and academic partners to advance intelligent manufacturing technologies.

Qualifications

• A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of digital manufacturing, Industry 4.0, and cyber-physical production systems.
• Experience in programming and software development, particularly with Python or similar languages.
• Familiarity with data engineering, database technologies, and data integration for industrial applications.
• Understanding of machine learning, data analytics, and AI methods for manufacturing.
• Experience with manufacturing data acquisition and industrial sensors is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop a scalable manufacturing data lake for multimodal production data.
• Design an open platform that supports plug-and-play AI microservices for predictive maintenance and process monitoring.
• Validate the platform on open-architecture metal powder bed fusion systems.
• Disseminate research findings through scientific publications and collaborations.

Education

• Candidates must be doctoral candidates and comply with the MSCA Mobility Rule, having not resided in Denmark for more than 12 months in the last 36 months.
