Job summary

This position involves a PhD scholarship focused on advancing multi-physics modelling of bearingless pumps at a leading technical university. The role includes collaboration with international research partners to develop innovative pumping technologies for electrified energy systems.

Qualifications

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent in mechanical engineering, energy engineering, engineering physics, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in computational modelling and multiphysics analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Develop coupled thermofluid-electromagnetic-rotordynamic models of bearingless pumps.
  • Quantify flow-induced radial and axial forces under various operating conditions.
  • Identify and model dominant loss mechanisms and their interactions.
  • Assess thermal effects on force generation and material properties.
  • Validate numerical models against experimental data.
  • Disseminate research findings through publications and presentations.
  • Contribute to teaching and supervision of BSc and MSc projects.

Skills

  • Proficiency in multiphysics modelling and analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education

  • A master's degree in a relevant field is required.

Tools

  • Experience with numerical modelling tools and software relevant to thermofluid and electromagnetic analysis.
