About the role

Job summary

This position involves conducting research on thyroid gland development and its vulnerability to endocrine disrupting chemicals, utilizing advanced molecular and cellular techniques. The aim is to enhance chemical safety assessments and contribute to public health protection.

Qualifications

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent academic level.
  • Strong English language skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent communication, prioritization, and organizational abilities.
  • Scientific curiosity and determination.
  • Experience in laboratory work, including cell culture, molecular techniques, or animal studies is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate thyroid gland development using in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro methods.
  • Perform histological and molecular characterization of cells and tissues.
  • Conduct transcriptomics experiments and engage in bioinformatics analysis.
  • Optimize and develop methods for research.
  • Conduct literature reviews linking xenobiotic exposure to thyroid development effects.
  • Complete required PhD courses (~30 ECTS).
  • Write scientific papers and present findings at various meetings.
  • Undertake a research placement abroad for 2-4 months.
  • Teach and supervise BSc and MSc student projects.
  • Write a PhD thesis for program completion.

Skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.

Education

  • A master's degree or equivalent is required.

Tools

  • Experience with molecular biology techniques, transcriptomics, and bioinformatics tools is beneficial.
