PhD Candidate in Adaptive Restorative XR (On-site)

Job summary

A PhD candidate is sought to explore adaptive restorative XR systems that respond to human emotions and behaviors. The role involves designing and assessing trustworthy XR experiences as part of a collaborative project with KTH, including research stays in Sweden.

Qualifications

• A strong background in computer science, human-computer interaction (HCI), XR, machine learning, or a related field.
• Experience in programming and prototyping, with a keen interest in empirical user research.
• Ability to work independently within an international research collaboration.
• A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent academic qualification.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate human-state-aware XR environments aimed at stress recovery and well-being.
• Prototype adaptive and accessible restorative XR environments.
• Model user states using physiological and behavioral signals, designing interpretable adaptations.
• Conduct laboratory studies and long-term field deployments.
• Collaborate with KTH on shared studies and publications, including approximately 12 months of research stays.

Education

Salary and appointment terms

• A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent is required.
• The position is full-time for a duration of 3 years, with salary based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
