Job summary

The Mechanical Engineering Lead will oversee a team of engineers and designers, focusing on mechanical design tasks for a global product range in equipment and automation. This role emphasizes leadership, project management, and technical expertise in mechanical engineering.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or certificate with at least 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in manufacturing.
• Minimum of 2 years in a leadership role.
• Strong collaboration skills across departments and the ability to interpret mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of machine shop practices and design of machine mechanisms, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers/designers, spending 20-30% of time on leadership duties.
• Perform standard engineering tasks, including project engineering and R&D, for 70-80% of the time.
• Foster a culture of teamwork and high performance.
• Schedule and monitor team workload to ensure project timelines are met.
• Provide coaching and feedback to team members for career development.
• Attend meetings to represent team projects and discuss priorities.
• Create CAD models and documentation using SolidWorks, ensuring compliance with company standards.
• Prepare bills of material and maintain design documentation.
• Collaborate with external suppliers and support manufacturing teams.
