Lead Backend Developer

Job summary

An experienced backend developer is sought to take on a lead role in a B2B SaaS company focused on marketing data governance and campaign tracking. This position involves significant hands-on coding and technical leadership within a small development team.

Qualifications

• Strong, current experience with PHP and Laravel.
• Proficient in problem-solving and self-direction, capable of diagnosing and resolving issues independently.
• Comfortable with SQL databases, including optimization for performance and scalability.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs and third-party integrations.
• Open to using AI development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, and MCP.

Responsibilities

• Lead the backend development efforts, providing support and guidance to other backend developers.
• Participate in architecture discussions and represent backend interests in technical forums.
• Engage in feature development within a Scrum-based product process, addressing bugs and performance issues as they arise.
• Evaluate the value of AI tools and set up experiments with clear success criteria.

Skills

• Nice-to-have skills include experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), Docker, CI/CD, and monitoring tools like New Relic or Sentry.
• Experience in customizing or training AI models is a plus.

Education

• Relevant educational background in computer science or a related field is preferred.

Tools

• Familiarity with modern AI tooling and collaborative development environments.
