Job summary

The role involves administering and supporting large IBM i (iSeries/IBMi) environments to ensure system stability, performance, and security. Responsibilities include performing operating system upgrades, managing backup and recovery operations, and troubleshooting hardware and software issues.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in IBM i (iSeries/IBMi) system administration.
  • Proficient in IBM i OS upgrades, PTF management, and security administration.
  • Strong understanding of IBM Power Systems architecture and core IBM i technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support IBM i environments for stability and security.
  • Conduct operating system upgrades and manage PTFs.
  • Monitor system performance and resolve issues proactively.
  • Manage backup and recovery operations using BRMS or equivalent tools.
  • Configure and maintain LPAR environments and TCP/IP networking.
  • Create and maintain user profiles and security settings.
  • Troubleshoot IBM i hardware and software issues in coordination with vendors.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with IBM i scripting or automation technologies (CL, SQL, RPG) is a plus.

Education

  • Relevant experience in IBM i system administration.

Tools

  • Experience with BRMS or equivalent backup and recovery solutions.
