Head of Risk Management (DeFi, Remote)

Job summary

This leadership role involves overseeing the Risk team and managing the risk frameworks for a significant decentralized finance protocol. The position requires collaboration with external risk service providers and accountability for high-stakes decision-making regarding collateral and liquidation performance.

Qualifications

• Over 5 years of experience in risk management, preferably in DeFi or cryptocurrency sectors.
• Proven track record in leading and managing risk teams.
• In-depth knowledge of the protocol's markets, governance, parameters, and risk dynamics.
• Strong understanding of market structure, portfolio risk management, and stress testing methodologies.
• Experience with external risk service providers.
• High sense of accountability and ownership for outcomes.
• Excellent judgment in uncertain situations and ability to make decisions with limited information.
• Strong communication skills for governance proposals and stakeholder alignment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Risk team, establishing direction and standards.
• Own and enhance the risk management frameworks and policies.
• Coordinate with external risk service providers to align on risk parameters.
• Set, monitor, and adjust risk parameters across various deployments and markets.
• Approve collateral onboarding decisions and conduct risk assessments.
• Review liquidation performance and suggest improvements.
• Lead risk governance processes and present analyses to stakeholders.
• Monitor changes in market structure and their impact on protocol risk.
• Foster a culture of accountability within the team.

Skills

Education
