CI Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

Seeking a CI Engineer to enhance the reliability and performance of CI and testing infrastructure in a fully remote, globally distributed engineering team. This role focuses on maintaining and improving CI systems, ensuring they are efficient and dependable.

Qualifications

• Experience with CI/CD systems in a professional setting.
• Proactive mindset with a focus on ownership and problem-solving.
• Ability to manage priorities independently in a remote environment.
• Strong understanding of GitHub Actions or similar CI platforms.
• Familiarity with JavaScript testing tools, especially Cypress and Jest.
• Proficient in containerization (Docker) and shell scripting (Bash).
• Experience in diagnosing and resolving flaky tests in extensive test suites.
• Excellent written communication skills for asynchronous collaboration.
• Curiosity and a systematic approach to debugging.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of GitHub Actions-based CI pipelines, anticipating and resolving issues.
• Triage and fix flaky tests across a multi-layered test suite.
• Support and improve the release process over time.
• Act as a first responder to CI infrastructure issues, diagnosing and resolving them independently.
• Assist product engineers in writing tests using various frameworks.
• Manage test infrastructure across multiple databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and others.
• Document and communicate CI health status clearly to the team.

Skills

• CI/CD systems experience.
• GitHub Actions or comparable CI platforms.
• JavaScript testing tools (Cypress, Jest).

Education

• Relevant experience in engineering or a related field is preferred.
