Chief IT Infrastructure Specialist (Mainframe)

Job summary

The role involves maintaining, developing, and optimizing the Mainframe Infrastructure environment to enhance its performance within a financial services context. The position is part of a dedicated team responsible for governance, budget management, compliance, and stakeholder communication related to the Mainframe environment.

Qualifications

• Technical background with experience in IBM Mainframe environments.
• Previous roles as a Mainframe Subject Matter Expert (SME), System Programmer, or Architect.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate within a dedicated Mainframe team.
• Analyze current mainframe software usage in the organization.
• Define, assess, and design alternatives to existing solutions.
• Plan and execute migrations to new target solutions.
• Modernize the Mainframe platform.

Skills

• Proficient in IBM zOS.
• Familiarity with Endevor configuration.
• Experience with cross-platform communications.
• Knowledge of mainframe and midrange scripting languages.
• Understanding of mainframe Unix System Services.

Education

• Relevant technical education or equivalent experience in IT infrastructure management.

Tools

• Mainframe infrastructure tools including transaction managers, databases, and queue systems.
