Backend Engineer (Remote)

Job summary

This role involves designing and scaling high-performance backend systems for real-time data processing and critical API services in a fully remote environment. You will work with Go and Node.js to build reliable infrastructure that supports significant usage growth.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of professional backend software development experience.
• Proficient in Go and/or Node.js, with a willingness to enhance skills in both.
• Experience in designing and maintaining scalable backend systems, APIs, and microservices.
• Strong understanding of SQL and experience with databases like DynamoDB, Redis, or Elasticsearch.
• Solid grasp of software engineering fundamentals and tools, including Git and CI/CD workflows.
• Strong analytical skills to investigate complex technical issues independently.
• Excellent communication skills in English for effective collaboration.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred, but equivalent experience is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize scalable backend systems and web services.
• Build and maintain APIs and microservices with a focus on reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate backend components efficiently.
• Conduct performance tuning, debugging, and reliability improvements.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to their professional growth.
• Participate in a shared on-call rotation with balanced coverage.

Skills

• Proficiency in Go and/or Node.js.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation is a plus.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog and modern logging practices.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and containerization technologies is advantageous.

Education

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.

Tools

• Experience with TypeScript, Express, ClickHouse, dbt, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks is beneficial.
