Backend Engineer (On-site)

Job summary

This role involves significant ownership in developing and enhancing a Point of Sale platform that supports merchants in managing their workflows efficiently. The position requires close collaboration with Product, Design, and engineering teams to ensure scalability and reliability of the software.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of professional software engineering experience
• Experience in designing and operating distributed systems
• Familiarity with modern software engineering practices, including testing and version control
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• Experience in payments, fintech, e-commerce, SaaS, or high-scale transaction systems is a plus

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve features across the Point of Sale platform
• Lead initiatives involving multiple engineers from discovery to production
• Develop APIs, services, and integrations for stock and order management
• Take ownership of features from design through deployment and maintenance
• Drive architectural decisions and technical improvements
• Enhance reliability, observability, performance, and security of the platform
• Contribute to testing and operational excellence

Skills

• Proficient in Java, Spring Boot, JUnit
• Experience with MySQL, Flyway, SQS
• Knowledge of REST APIs and Domain Driven Design
• Familiarity with Docker, Terraform, AWS ECS
• Understanding of ports and adapters architecture

Education

• Relevant degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred but not specified.
