Application Security Specialist

Job summary

We are looking for a technically skilled Application Security Specialist to enhance our security team. This role focuses on secure development practices and vulnerability management, collaborating closely with software development teams to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities in commercial products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Practical experience in application security, secure coding, and vulnerability assessment within a modern software development environment.
• Strong understanding of vulnerability management principles and remediation processes.
• Experience with Checkmarx or similar SAST platforms.
• Familiarity with vulnerability scoring frameworks like CVSS.
• Knowledge of security standards and secure software development practices.
• Excellent analytical, documentation, and reporting skills.
• Ability to communicate technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

Personal Attributes

• Conduct technical reviews and triage vulnerability findings from SAST, SCA, and container scans.
• Analyze Checkmarx findings to differentiate true positives from false positives.
• Assess vulnerabilities using CVSS and determine risk ratings and remediation priorities.
• Collaborate with development teams to identify root causes of vulnerabilities and provide remediation guidance.
• Promote secure development practices based on OWASP standards.
• Contribute to AI-assisted workflows for vulnerability detection and remediation.
• Maintain vulnerability metrics, dashboards, and executive-level security reporting.
• Document security assessments, remediation activities, and compliance initiatives.
• Highly analytical with a strong interest in application security.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to investigate complex security issues.
• Strong documentation and teamwork skills.
