Android Engineer (On-site)

Job summary

This role involves hands-on engineering with significant ownership in developing a Point of Sale platform for merchants. The position requires collaboration with Product, Design, and engineering teams to create scalable software solutions that meet the demands of a rapidly growing customer base.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of professional software engineering experience
• Experience in designing and operating distributed systems
• Familiarity with modern software engineering practices, including testing and version control
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• Experience in payments, fintech, e-commerce, SaaS, or high-scale transaction systems is advantageous

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve features for the Point of Sale platform
• Lead initiatives involving multiple engineers from discovery to production
• Develop and maintain features in the Android POS platform using Kotlin/Compose
• Drive architectural decisions and long-term technical improvements
• Enhance reliability, observability, performance, and security of the platform
• Contribute to testing and operational excellence while fostering a collaborative team culture

Skills

• Proficiency in Kotlin, Android, Java
• Experience with Jetpack Compose, MVVM, Dagger Hilt, Room, DataStore
• Knowledge of Retrofit, AWS MQTT, JUnit, Espresso, Robolectric
• Familiarity with CI/CD processes using GitHub Actions
• Experience with hardware integration such as scanners, printers, and payment terminals

Education

• Relevant degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred but not explicitly stated.
