Thermodynamic Systems Engineer (Piove di Sacco, Italy)

Job summary

An experienced Thermal Systems Engineer is needed to support the development of global thermal system modeling tools. This role involves creating and maintaining thermodynamic models for HVAC products, collaborating with a diverse engineering team, and ensuring model accuracy and performance.

Qualifications

• MS Degree in mechanical, energy engineering, or a related field focused on thermodynamics.
• Over 5 years of experience in thermal modeling and heat transfer analysis of commercial HVAC systems.
• Strong background in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics.
• Proficient in coding and unit testing using object-oriented programming languages.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Italian.

Responsibilities

• Develop mathematical models for HVAC components using physics-based equations.
• Code algorithms to simulate performance of HVAC systems.
• Maintain a library of heat transfer and pressure drop correlations.
• Review literature for new methods and implement them in code.
• Investigate and resolve convergence and accuracy issues in models.
• Collaborate with control engineers on system simulation tools.
• Write test plans for model validation and calibrate models against lab data.
• Lead projects to completion and perform complex data analysis.

Skills

• Strong coding skills in languages such as Cadence, FlowNex, MATLAB Simulink, FloMaster, and Simscale.
• Knowledge of CFD simulation software and numerical methods.
• Detail-oriented and self-motivated team player.

Education

• MS Degree in mechanical, energy engineering, or related field.

Tools

• Microsoft Office 365 applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and communication tools like MS Teams.
