Senior Group Worker (Social Services, On-site)

Job summary

Responsible for planning, organizing, and directing a group work program at a state institution, aimed at assisting the treatment of emotionally or mentally disturbed individuals. This role involves close supervision and coordination with rehabilitation programs.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of group work principles, practices, and techniques.
• Working knowledge of psychology and human behavior dynamics.
• Ability to adapt recreational plans to individual needs.
• Experience in leading group or recreational activities in public or private agencies.
• Education equivalent to a junior college degree in liberal arts or two years of college study in a related field.
• Must be physically qualified for assigned duties, as certified by a physician.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct group work programs including sports, arts, and social activities.
• Actively participate as a leader or instructor in recreational activities.
• Interview individuals to assess interests and facilitate participation.
• Coordinate activities with rehabilitation programs, adjusting plans as necessary.
• Observe and document progress of individuals in recreational settings.
• Participate in case conferences to evaluate and plan group activities.
• Work individually with challenging cases and implement specialized techniques.
• Ensure proper custodial services and coverage for activities.
• Coordinate volunteer services with program activities.
• Arrange community participation for individuals outside the institution.
