Staff Engineer (Remote)

Job summary

This role involves leading the technical architecture for Money, Risk & Payment Ancillaries, focusing on financial correctness and real-time decision-making in a fully remote environment. The position requires designing resilient systems that manage risk, fraud, and money operations while ensuring compliance and accuracy across transactions.

Qualifications

• Over 8 years of software engineering experience, with expertise in Go and/or Kotlin.
• Proven ability to architect scalable, maintainable distributed systems with a focus on event-driven design.
• Experience in building financial systems where accuracy and auditability are critical.
• Strong knowledge of AWS and cloud-native services.
• Excellent practices in automated testing within Agile and CI/CD workflows.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring capabilities.
• Advanced proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture across risk, fraud, scams, money operations, reconciliations, and chargebacks.
• Design low-latency systems for real-time risk and fraud scoring.
• Build systems for money operations and reconciliation with a focus on accuracy and auditability.
• Develop platforms for scam prevention and manage the chargeback lifecycle.
• Champion a culture of 'You Build It, You Run It' within the team.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver complex projects.

Skills

• Strong expertise in distributed systems and design patterns.
• Experience with financial or risk-critical systems.
• Familiarity with data-intensive systems and streaming technologies.

Education

• Relevant degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
