Senior Platform Lead (Scientific Software, Lyngby)

Job summary

This role involves taking ownership of a scientific software platform that supports genomics and proteomics, bridging the gap between R&D and IT. The position requires both hands-on engineering and stakeholder collaboration to ensure robust and scalable solutions that meet scientific needs.

Qualifications

• M.Sc. degree in IT, computer science, bioinformatics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Several years of experience in software development, scientific IT, or data platforms, preferably in a scientific or life science context.
• Proficient in Python with hands-on experience in Linux and databases.
• Experience in system development, maintenance, and operations in an R&D environment.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and familiarity with agile methodologies.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Act as platform owner, managing the roadmap, prioritization, and long-term sustainability in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Engage in hands-on work with the platform stack (e.g., Python, Linux, Hadoop/HBase, RabbitMQ, Solr) to design and implement solutions.
• Provide technical direction and prioritize recommendations balancing stakeholder needs and operational stability.
• Continuously enhance architecture, tools, and workflows to adapt to evolving scientific methods and data volumes.

Skills

• Familiarity with DevOps principles and modern software operations.
• Experience with installing, customizing, and integrating open-source tools and services.
• Interest in scientific domains such as genomics, proteomics, or bioinformatics.

Education

• M.Sc. degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
