Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Remote)

Job summary

This role involves taking ownership of PostgreSQL operations within a fully managed cloud infrastructure platform, focusing on enhancing reliability, performance, and automation. The position is fully remote, targeting candidates in the EU and Eastern US timezones.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in software, platform, or infrastructure engineering, particularly with large scale production systems.
• Deep expertise in PostgreSQL, including performance tuning, replication, backups, high availability, and troubleshooting.
• Mastery of AWS (or GCP) for designing and operating production cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration, including production cluster operations.
• Strong proficiency in Go, particularly in building and maintaining Kubernetes operators.
• Solid Linux systems administration and networking fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, manage, and optimize PostgreSQL clusters on Kubernetes, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Develop and enhance Kubernetes operators and controllers in Go for automating database operations.
• Design and operate cloud infrastructure on AWS across multiple accounts and regions.
• Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, automating manual workflows.
• Improve reliability and security through monitoring and proactive capacity planning.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues across PostgreSQL and cloud infrastructure.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance developer experience and platform automation.
• Define best practices for database operations and mentor other engineers.

Education
