Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Job summary

The role involves leading the delivery, support, and availability of global infrastructure across various platforms. The engineer will ensure the scalability, security, and operational efficiency of enterprise systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant technical certifications.
• 7+ years’ experience in a 3rd/4th-line role within an enterprise IT infrastructure environment, or 5+ years’ experience in a biomedical IT service environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of global infrastructure including compute, storage, networking, and platforms.
• Build and optimize enterprise technologies such as VMware, Windows Server, Citrix, and Linux.
• Drive cloud operations on AWS and/or Azure, focusing on automation.
• Manage capacity, business continuity, backup, and disaster recovery processes.
• Collaborate with technical architects to translate designs into operational solutions.
• Implement information security controls and ensure compliance with frameworks.
• Deliver cross-functional projects and prepare documentation for audits.
• Engage with stakeholders and vendors to influence IT/OT strategy.
• Mentor peers and contribute to engineering standards and operational excellence.

Skills

• Expertise in virtualization (VMware), cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), and storage solutions.
• Proficient in backup/DR technologies like Veeam.
• Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
• Experience in scripting and automation for operational efficiency.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant technical certifications.
