Senior Engineering Manager (Copenhagen)

Job summary

The Senior Engineering Manager for Content Platform is responsible for overseeing the systems that acquire and ingest content for the company's product line. This role involves leading two engineering teams in Copenhagen, focusing on optimizing crawl throughput and building shared foundations for content access.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in backend engineering, with expertise in distributed systems, high-throughput data ingestion, or large-scale crawling.
• 10+ years of experience managing engineers, including senior technical leaders.
• Proven ability to make decisions independently and manage outcomes effectively.

Responsibilities

• Act as the decision-maker in Copenhagen, aligning local engineering efforts with product and UX constraints.
• Own the Content Platform's ingestion surface, focusing on availability, throughput, cost, and delivery predictability.
• Direct architectural decisions and cross-team contracts to improve system efficiency.
• Manage delivery timelines and prioritize tasks to ensure project completion.
• Define KPIs for the systems and hold teams accountable for performance.
• Foster the growth and development of engineering staff, including performance and compensation decisions.

Skills

• Strong architectural judgment with experience in cloud-native infrastructure.
• Ability to leverage AI for engineering processes and improve system documentation.

Education

• Relevant technical degree or equivalent experience in a related field.

Tools

• Familiarity with EKS and event-driven services is preferred.
