Senior Electrical and Automation Engineer

Job summary

Lead the electrical and automation aspects of major vessel projects, including newbuilding, retrofitting, upgrades, and technology development. Ensure compliance with safety and company standards while fostering innovation and continuous improvement in vessel designs and operational performance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in shipbuilding, ship management, marine engineering, or technical fleet support.
• Strong understanding of marine power generation, distribution, automation, navigation, communication, and safety systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage the electrical and automation scope for projects from concept through to implementation and handover.
• Develop and uphold technical specifications, standards, and internal requirements.
• Lead design reviews and technical clarifications with shipyards, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
• Review and approve designs, load balance calculations, and equipment selections.
• Coordinate with Classification Societies and Flag Administrations for compliance.
• Support project execution through inspections, FATs, commissioning, and sea trials.
• Address technical issues to maintain project schedules, quality, and cost targets.
• Document lessons learned and promote continuous improvement across projects.
• Evaluate and implement new technologies related to electrification, automation, and decarbonization.
• Contribute to future vessel concepts by identifying opportunities and proposing innovative solutions.
