Senior Director, Inflammation & Rare Disease (Biotechnology, Onsite)

Job summary

This role provides medical and scientific leadership for Inflammation & Rare Disease programs, overseeing early clinical and late-stage development activities. The position involves leading a team of Medical Specialists and ensuring strong cross-functional collaboration to drive execution and strategy.

Qualifications

• MD required; PhD preferred
• Minimum 5 years of proven people leadership experience, including coaching high-performing teams
• Strong experience in biotech/pharma within medical/scientific leadership across clinical development and lifecycle activities
• Rare disease expertise preferred; inflammation experience is an advantage
• Demonstrated capability to influence strategy and decisions across senior stakeholder groups
• Strong scientific communication skills, including engagement with external experts

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day medical and scientific leadership for Medical Specialists in Inflammation & Rare Disease projects
• Lead, coach, and develop the Inflammation & Rare Disease department, focusing on performance management and capability building
• Shape and drive medical and scientific strategy across the development value chain
• Guide clinical development plans, including trial design and evidence generation
• Act as a senior medical/scientific partner to cross-functional stakeholders
• Lead external scientific engagement, including KOL interactions and advisory boards
