Senior Director, Inflammation & Rare Disease (Biotechnology, Onsite)

Job summary

This role involves providing medical and scientific leadership for Inflammation & Rare Disease programs, overseeing both early clinical and late-stage development activities. The position requires strong collaboration across various functions and leadership of a team of Medical Specialists.

Qualifications

• MD required; PhD preferred
• At least 5 years of proven experience in people leadership, including coaching high-performing teams
• Significant experience in biotech or pharma, particularly in medical/scientific leadership within clinical development or lifecycle activities
• Expertise in rare diseases preferred; experience in inflammation is advantageous
• Ability to influence strategy and decisions among senior stakeholders
• Strong scientific communication skills for engaging with external experts and creating medical/scientific materials

Responsibilities

• Provide daily medical and scientific leadership for the Inflammation & Rare Disease team
• Lead, coach, and develop the department, focusing on performance management and capability building
• Shape and drive medical and scientific strategy for relevant programs
• Guide clinical development plans, including trial design and evidence generation
• Act as a senior medical/scientific partner to cross-functional stakeholders
• Lead external scientific engagement, including interactions with key opinion leaders and advisory boards
