Job summary

The Senior Commercial Manager is tasked with overseeing the commercial and contractual performance of various projects within a business unit. This role involves leading project commercial teams, ensuring effective risk management, and supporting profitability while adhering to company policies.

Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial aspects of multiple projects from tender to final account.
• Review, negotiate, and execute all contractual documents prior to project initiation.
• Lead commercial teams to ensure accurate reporting, valuations, cash management, and risk mitigation.
• Provide commercial support during tendering, procurement, and contract negotiations, identifying and addressing risks and opportunities.
• Implement the Internal Control and Risk Management Policy across all assigned projects.
• Oversee subcontractor procurement and contract execution in accordance with company policy.
• Drive margin protection and improvement through effective commercial controls.
• Capture and communicate lessons learned within the commercial team.
• Support dispute management and resolution in collaboration with the internal legal team.
• Mentor and lead Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors to enhance their capabilities.

Qualifications

Additional Information

• Significant experience as a Commercial Manager or in a similar role within a Tier 1 construction contractor.
• Proven success in achieving strong commercial outcomes on major projects.
• Strong understanding of contract administration, risk management, and dispute resolution.
• Experience in managing and developing commercial teams.
• Chartered membership of a relevant professional body is desirable.
• Experience in various sectors such as infrastructure, commercial building, and industrial projects is a plus.
• Familiarity with digital commercial systems and reporting tools is advantageous.
