Senior Backend Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

This position involves joining a cross-functional team of engineers to develop tools, APIs, and integrations for a global HR platform. The backend is primarily built using Elixir and Phoenix, with a Postgres database, and applications are hosted on AWS. The role offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to impact the company's growth.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering fundamentals with experience in shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Practical experience in designing automation workflows and improving them iteratively.
• Proficiency in Postgres or similar databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitLab or GitHub.
• Demonstrated capabilities in automation and AI fluency.

Responsibilities

• Lead development on major projects and participate in cross-team initiatives.
• Provide feedback and suggest improvements during product work.
• Maintain a solid understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Debug technical and business issues as they arise.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide them in their professional growth.
• Propose and implement improvements to the platform and workflows.

Skills

• Nice to have: Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Next.js, and frontend frameworks like React, Vue, or Angular.

Education

• Relevant experience in software engineering or a related field is preferred.
