Senior Backend Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

This role involves joining a team of engineers focused on developing tools, APIs, and integrations for HR and Payroll products. The backend is built using Elixir and Phoenix, with a Postgres database, and applications are hosted on AWS.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering fundamentals with experience in shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Practical experience in designing automation workflows and improving them through iteration.
• Proficient in Postgres or similar databases.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab or GitHub.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of major projects and participate in cross-team initiatives.
• Provide feedback and suggest solutions during product work.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
• Mentor and guide other engineers.
• Propose and implement improvements to the platform.
• Build reusable workflows and ensure results are correct and reliable.

Skills

• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Nextjs, and React/Vue/Angular is a plus.

Education

• Relevant experience in software engineering or a related field is required.
