Senior Backend Engineer (Remote, Global)

Job summary

This role involves joining a team of engineers focused on building tools, APIs, and integrations for various products. The backend technology stack includes Elixir, Phoenix, and Postgres, with a fully remote work setup.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering fundamentals with experience in shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Practical experience in designing or adopting automation workflows and iterating on them.
• Ability to think in systems, define specifications, and ensure quality through verification.
• Proficiency with Postgres or similar databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools like GitLab or GitHub.

Responsibilities

• Lead development on major projects and participate in cross-team initiatives.
• Engage in product discussions, providing feedback and suggesting improvements.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the team’s domain.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Debug and resolve technical and business issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide them in their development.
• Propose and implement improvements to the platform and workflows.
• Ensure interfaces are designed with performance and accessibility in mind.

Skills

• Experience with Functional Programming languages (e.g., Elixir, Erlang).
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, and frontend frameworks like React or Next.js is a plus.

Education

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in software engineering or a related field.
