Senior Backend Engineer (Remote)

Job summary

This role involves joining a fully remote team of engineers focused on building tools, APIs, and integrations for various products. The backend is developed using Elixir and Phoenix, with a Postgres database, while the front-end utilizes React and Next.js. The position offers the opportunity to work on significant challenges that impact global employment solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering fundamentals with experience in shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Practical experience in designing automation workflows and improving them iteratively.
• Proficiency in Postgres or similar databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitLab or GitHub.
• Demonstrated capabilities in automation and AI fluency.

Responsibilities

• Lead major projects and participate in cross-team initiatives for HR and Payroll products.
• Engage in product discussions, providing feedback and suggesting improvements.
• Maintain a solid understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Mentor other engineers and participate in hiring processes.
• Propose and implement improvements to the platform and workflows.

Skills

• Experience with Functional Programming languages (e.g., Elixir, Erlang).
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Next.js, and modern front-end frameworks (React/Vue/Angular) is a plus.

Education

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in software engineering or a related field.
