Senior Backend Engineer (Remote)

Job summary

This role involves joining a team of engineers focused on building tools, APIs, and integrations for HR and Payroll products. The backend is developed using Elixir and Phoenix, with a Postgres database, and applications are hosted on AWS. The position is fully remote, allowing for flexible work arrangements.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering fundamentals with experience in shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Practical experience in designing or adopting automation workflows and improving them iteratively.
• Ability to think in systems, define specifications, and ensure quality through verification.
• Experience with Postgres or similar databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools like GitLab, GitHub, or Jenkins.
• Demonstrated capabilities in automation and AI fluency.

Responsibilities

• Lead development on major projects and participate in cross-team initiatives.
• Engage in product work, providing feedback and suggesting improvements.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the team’s domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
• Debug technical and business issues and mentor other engineers.
• Propose and implement improvements to the platform and workflows.

Skills
