Senior Backend Engineer (Messaging, Remote)

Job summary

The role involves developing and scaling a messaging and notification platform that ensures users receive timely and relevant notifications. The focus is on building robust, event-driven systems that enhance user experience while maintaining reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend development experience, particularly with Java 17, Kotlin, and Spring/Spring Boot.
• At least 4+ years of experience in building and operating distributed systems in production.
• Strong understanding of event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing.
• Familiarity with high-load SaaS architecture and cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
• Experience with streaming/messaging platforms and notification systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, fault-tolerant backend services for notifications.
• Build and maintain event-driven pipelines for processing high volumes of events.
• Write clean, maintainable, and self-documented production code.
• Ensure correctness and delivery guarantees across notification flows.
• Optimize system performance and scalability under peak loads.
• Collaborate with Product and Platform teams to enhance user notifications.

Skills

• Proficiency in backend development and distributed systems.

• Experience with AI tools for software development is highly valued.

Education

• Relevant degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
