Senior Backend Engineer

Job summary

The role involves enhancing and scaling a messaging and notification platform, ensuring timely and relevant user notifications through various channels. The position focuses on building robust, high-throughput systems that meet strict reliability and performance standards.

Qualifications

• Over 6 years of backend development experience, particularly with Java 17, Kotlin, and Spring/Spring Boot.
• At least 4 years of experience in building and managing distributed systems in production.
• Strong grasp of event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing.
• Familiarity with high-load SaaS architecture and reliability patterns.
• Experience with streaming/messaging platforms and notification systems is a plus.
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, and production observability practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable backend services for email and in-app notifications.
• Develop event-driven, asynchronous pipelines to handle high volumes of events.
• Produce high-quality technical designs and maintain clean, self-documented code.
• Ensure correctness and delivery guarantees across notification systems.
• Optimize system performance and reliability during peak loads.
• Take ownership of features and subsystems, focusing on production health and evolution.
• Collaborate with Product and Platform teams to ensure effective user notifications.

Education
