About the role

Job summary

The role involves being the technical owner of engineering changes focused on product maintenance within the existing portfolio. The R&D Engineer will drive mechanical and system design changes from assessment to implementation while also contributing to new development projects in marine energy systems.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Relevant experience in design and development of systems and component selection.
  • Proven ability to manage changes in existing systems and products, including optimization and quality assurance.
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to make independent technical decisions.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Structured work approach with solid coordination abilities.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical aspects of engineering changes related to mechanical and system design.
  • Select appropriate components and write specifications while evaluating supplier proposals.
  • Assess the impact of changes on surrounding systems and manage the change process.
  • Create Technical Solution Descriptions and document changes across diagrams and technical documentation.
  • Implement changes involving P&IDs, component modifications, and process adjustments.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to effectively evaluate and implement changes.
  • Design and develop marine systems and components, including burners and heat exchangers.
  • Conduct research and risk assessments (HAZOP, HAZID, FMEA, DFMEA) and document findings.

Skills

  • Experience with marine/industrial systems such as burners, boilers, and heat exchangers is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with PLM software like Autodesk Vault or Siemens Teamcenter is a plus.
  • Exposure to risk assessment methodologies is beneficial.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a similar technical discipline.

Tools

  • CAD software (e.g., Autodesk Inventor).
  • PLM software (e.g., Autodesk Vault, Siemens Teamcenter).
