About the role

Job summary

The role involves leading research projects focused on peptide-based drug candidates for obesity and metabolic health. The Principal Scientist will be responsible for advancing biological understanding and translating this into actionable preclinical data.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Pharmacology, In Vitro Biology, or a related field with a minimum of 8 years of post-Ph.D. experience.
  • Strong background in metabolism and/or obesity biology.
  • Experience in drug discovery and/or development projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of in vitro/ex vivo biological models, including primary cells.
  • Familiarity with G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) pharmacology is advantageous.
  • Experience collaborating with external vendors and contract research organizations (CROs) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead one or more research projects from concept to preclinical validation.
  • Develop testable preclinical hypotheses based on mechanism-of-action insights.
  • Create in vitro biological models relevant to obesity pharmacology.
  • Conduct in vitro disease-model studies to evaluate molecular candidates and assist in selecting lead compounds.
  • Analyze complex data related to pharmacology and cell biology, providing insights to senior leadership and external partners.
  • Ensure thorough study design and documentation to facilitate decision-making and transitions to in vivo studies.
