Job summary

The role involves leading research projects focused on peptide-based medicines for obesity and metabolic health, utilizing in vitro biology and pharmacology expertise. The position emphasizes the development of biological models and the translation of scientific knowledge into actionable preclinical hypotheses.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Pharmacology, In Vitro Biology, or a related field with a minimum of 8 years of post-Ph.D. experience.
  • Strong background in metabolism and/or obesity biology.
  • Experience in drug discovery and/or drug development projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of in vitro/ex vivo biological models, including primary cells and cell-based assays.
  • Familiarity with G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) pharmacology is advantageous.
  • Experience collaborating with external vendors and contract research organizations (CROs) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead one or more research projects from concept through preclinical validation.
  • Convert mechanism-of-action insights into testable preclinical hypotheses and measurable success criteria.
  • Design and develop in vitro biological models pertinent to obesity pharmacology.
  • Conduct in vitro disease-model studies to evaluate molecular candidates and assist in the selection of lead compounds based on data.
  • Analyze complex data related to pharmacology profiling and cell biology, providing insights to senior leadership and external partners.
  • Ensure thorough study design, documentation, and data packages to facilitate decision-making and transitions to in vivo studies.

Education

  • Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline is required.

  • Proficiency in designing and implementing in vitro biological models and familiarity with data analysis tools relevant to pharmacology and cell biology.
