About the role

Job summary

The Principal Scientist in In Vitro Biology & Pharmacology will lead research initiatives focused on peptide-based drug candidates for obesity and metabolic health. This role involves developing biological models and translating scientific insights into actionable preclinical hypotheses to support drug development.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Pharmacology, In Vitro Biology, or a related discipline with a minimum of 8 years of post-Ph.D. experience.
  • Strong foundation in metabolism and obesity biology.
  • Proven experience in drug discovery and development processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of in vitro/ex vivo biological models, including primary cells and cell-based assays.
  • Familiarity with G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) pharmacology is a plus.
  • Experience collaborating with external vendors and contract research organizations (CROs) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Lead one or more research projects from concept through preclinical validation.
  • Convert mechanism-of-action insights into testable preclinical hypotheses and measurable success criteria.
  • Create and refine in vitro biological models pertinent to obesity pharmacology.
  • Conduct in vitro disease-model studies to evaluate molecular candidates and inform lead compound selection.
  • Analyze complex data related to pharmacology and cell biology, providing recommendations to senior leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure thorough study design and documentation to facilitate efficient decision-making and transition to in vivo studies.

Education

  • Ph.D. in a relevant scientific field.
