Principal Engineer

Job summary

The role of Principal Engineer involves leading the technical direction and architecture for a platform within the Disease Management team. This position requires a hands-on approach to ensure the reliability and observability of the system while collaborating with various stakeholders to translate product and compliance needs into actionable technical plans.

Qualifications

• Extensive backend engineering experience, preferably with Python, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, and Postgres on AWS or equivalent modern stacks.
• Proven track record in designing distributed systems, including API design and data modeling.
• Experience in ensuring production reliability, including observability and infrastructure as code (Terraform/AWS).
• Strong inclination towards building and delivering impactful software.
• Proficiency in utilizing AI coding agents and verifying their outputs.
• Excellent technical writing skills for diverse audiences.
• Familiarity with health and safety-critical software regulations (e.g., SaMD, HIPAA).
• Knowledge of healthcare data interoperability standards (e.g., FHIR).
• Experience with data analytics at scale and mobile technologies is a plus.
