Job summary

This position focuses on developing local strain analysis tools using advanced 4D X-ray micro-beam diffraction techniques for sustainable materials development. The role involves applying these techniques to study microstructural evolution during mechanical loading.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Strong background in X-ray physics, microstructural characterization, plastic deformation, crystallography, physical metallurgy, mechanics, and strain analysis.
  • Experience with synchrotron or laboratory 3D diffraction imaging is a significant advantage.
  • Excellent English communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software for analyzing elastic and plastic strain tensors from Lab-4DµXRD data.
  • Conduct in situ Lab-4DµXRD experiments on aluminum samples under tensile loading.
  • Perform synchrotron experiments to validate Lab-4DµXRD results.
  • Implement crystal plasticity finite element models using experimental data to analyze local strain heterogeneities.

Skills

  • Proficiency in X-ray physics and strain analysis techniques.
  • Experience in microstructural characterization and plastic deformation analysis.
  • Familiarity with crystallography and physical metallurgy principles.

Education

  • A PhD degree (or equivalent) is required for this position.
