Qualifications

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop processes for converting metal machining chips into powder for additive manufacturing.
  • Assess contamination levels on produced powders using various characterization techniques.
  • Conduct fatigue testing on samples made from chip-to-powder feedstock.
  • Publish research findings in high-quality journals and present at conferences.
  • Collaborate with academic and industrial partners on research projects.
  • Co-supervise Bachelor and Master students in their research.
  • Provide regular progress updates to supervisors and project partners.

Skills

  • Expertise in metal additive manufacturing and material characterization.
  • Experience with characterizing metal powder, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray computed tomography, and recycled metals.
  • Proficiency in Python scripting and programming.

Education

  • A PhD in a relevant discipline is required.

Tools

  • Familiarity with material characterization techniques and fatigue testing methodologies.
