Job summary

The position involves research in operando electrocatalysis and sustainable electrosynthesis at a leading technical university. The role focuses on developing new electrocatalytic systems for converting abundant molecules into valuable chemicals and fuels using renewable electricity.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, physics, or a related field
  • Experience in electrocatalysis and electrochemistry
  • Familiarity with synchrotron-based X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS)
  • Skills in automation, high-throughput experimentation, data analysis, and programming (Python, MATLAB, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international research environment

Responsibilities

  • Design and synthesis of electrocatalysts, including multimetallic alloy systems
  • Conduct operando and in situ characterization using Raman spectroscopy and synchrotron-based X-ray techniques
  • Develop accelerated and high-throughput experimental workflows
  • Analyze and interpret electrochemical and spectroscopic datasets
  • Collaborate with international research partners and synchrotron facilities
  • Disseminate research through publications and presentations at international conferences
  • Mentor and co-supervise MSc and PhD students

Education

  • A formal qualification of a PhD degree (or equivalent) is required.

Tools

  • Experience with Raman spectroscopy, synchrotron-based techniques, and programming languages such as Python and MATLAB is essential.
