This position involves conducting research in biophotonics with a focus on improving imaging techniques for the early detection of pancreatic cancer. The role is part of a collaborative team dedicated to advancing multimodal, functional optical bio-imaging technologies.

Qualifications

  • PhD in biomedical optics, electrical engineering, photonics, or a related field
  • Expertise in optical imaging technology, image processing, and modeling
  • Experience in experimental work within a photonics laboratory
  • Familiarity with fiber optics or imaging catheters is advantageous
  • Strong communication and presentation skills

Responsibilities

  • Identify cancer detection biomarkers using SO-OCT and NIR-II fluorescence, leveraging AI
  • Develop multimodal imaging systems incorporating SO-OCT and NIR-II fluorescence
  • Explore system architectures for fiber optic implementations of the imaging system
  • Collaborate with an international research team
  • Publish and disseminate research findings
  • Co-supervise BSc and MSc students
  • Contribute to securing research funding

Education

  • A formal qualification of a PhD degree (or equivalent) is required.

  • NIR-II fluorescence imaging
  • Spatial offset optical coherence tomography (SO-OCT)
  • AI for biomarker identification
