Job summary

This position is a 3-year postdoctoral role focused on developing context-aware audio technologies for smart glasses as part of an EU-funded research project. The role involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to advance hearing solutions that enhance communication for individuals with hearing impairments.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree (or equivalent) in computer science, AI, engineering, cognitive hearing science, or related fields.
  • Strong track record in real-time audio-visual signal processing, communication science, computer vision, or audio machine learning.
  • Practical experience with first-person video, real-time algorithms, AI audio-video applications, and human communication experiments.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct human communication experiments and create a large-scale audio-visual communication dataset.
  • Implement real-time closed-loop wearable systems and evaluate technology with human users.
  • Collaborate with the project team on developing AI models for audio beamforming and spatial sound field reconstruction.
  • Engage in hands-on laboratory work involving multi-sensor experiments and complex data curation.

Skills

  • Experience in closed-loop hearing technologies or cognitive audio solutions is advantageous.
  • Proficient in real-time audio-visual signal processing and large data collection.
  • Strong collaborative skills in an international research environment.

Education

  • A PhD in a relevant field is required.

Tools

  • Familiarity with audio-visual AI, spatial audio technology, and real-time signal processing tools is beneficial.
