About the role

Job summary

This PhD position focuses on investigating the effects of processing and matrix-induced changes on food proteins and their implications for gut health and food allergenicity. The role involves conducting in vitro and in vivo studies to understand how these modifications affect gastrointestinal digestion and the development of allergies or tolerance.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in Allergology, Immunology, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Biomedicine, Protein Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of immunology and/or food allergy.
  • Knowledge of protein chemistry.
  • Experience with in vivo experiments and cell-based techniques.
  • Familiarity with immunochemistry analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and perform in vitro digestibility analyses.
  • Design and execute in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo microbiota composition and activity analyses.
  • Conduct gut uptake studies in vitro and in vivo.
  • Carry out various in vivo animal experiments and analyze results.
  • Collaborate with researchers and technicians, and supervise student projects.

Skills

Education

  • A two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent academic level.

Tools

  • Experience with in vitro and in vivo research methodologies.
